Quality you can taste!

We want to Share the Love in everything we do, from how farmers are paid to how we caretake the earth, from the quality of our processing to the consistency of our product. This is why we guarantee what we make and know you’ll love it!

We source exclusively from small family farms who work through a local organization to centrally ferment & dry the cacao beans. This is truly single-origin cacao.

Our cacao is certified organic, without the use of pesticides or other chemicals. We pay above international prices for cacao, ensuring that the small-scale farmers and workers all along the production process receive a fair wage.

The farms we work with selects premium varieties to plant and propagate. After the cacao pods are harvested, the cacao beans are fully fermented by professionals trained in this vital, often lacking, step. Once the beans have undergone their transformation, they are sun-dried and sent to our chocolate shop.

In our bean-to-bar chocolate shop, we then precision roast the beans and remove the husks. After we refine the cacao nibs into a liquid paste, we set it aside to cool and harden. We then shred the cacao down to make our flakes or temper into our signature bar.

A morning breakfast on the go

Enjoying the Embrue Cacao

I enjoy home brewing espresso as I prefer stronger coffee and so I really like the relative strength of Embrue cacao. As I’ve generally reduced my intake of processed sugars, I like being able to sweeten my cacao drink to my preferred level. The flavor is intense and I appreciate the health benefits the Embrue cacao offers as well.

I've been a part of "Heartblood Cacao" now "Embue" Cacao for many years. I ALWAYS LOVED the Guatemalan Cacao which was the first cacao introduced by Moses. I swear by it. I always experienced amazing results from it. I had so much energy and mental focus. I have it every day in my morning shake. I was a little hesitant with the new cacao from Peru and Uganda. I always buy the block. It seems to be more affective. At first the Peruvian option didn't seem to work as good as the Guatemalan but I guess it took a second bar to see the results. The effectiveness to me is different between the Guatemalan and Peruvian but still amazing. I've always trusted Moses to find the best products for his customers and give us the best quality! :)

Love this stuff!

I love the care and attention that goes into this product, which I feel I can taste! Offering the ground cacao is also super helpful for me, and is one of the other main reasons I buy this. It’s very easy to mix! I noticed they recently moved away from the paper bags to a plastic bag, which is why I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5. Perhaps this is better for the planet, since before when I bought 5 lbs it came in 5 paper bags, and now I get 1 big plastic bag. Would love to see ways to avoid plastic waste!

Hey Landon! We wish there were easier options as well. Part of the reason we switched to one bulk bag is it reduces the total packaging from multiple smaller bags. In our research, we haven't found very many effective, food-safe solutions that actually have a lower ecological footprint and that wouldn't increase cost significantly. But, we're always on the lookout!

Super creamy and ethically sourced. My favorite cacao brand- and I’ve tried many!

Single Origin Ceremonial Cacao

Piura Blanco, Peru

Piura Blanco is a true heirloom cacao that has been grown in the Sechura desert for at least 1,000 years since seeds were carried over the Andes from Amazonia. In northwestern Peru, lies the community of Puerta Pulache, where very narrow river valleys cut through the desert as they come down from the Andes. This creates a unique microclimate for growing this rare cacao.

Social & Environmental Impact

These particular communities are some of the only cacao producers where no other varieties (like hybrids such as CCN-51) have worked their way into the mix. Their work is preserving an important ecological & cultural heritage with these beans. The Piura Blanco beans are naturally around 30% pure white beans. The farmers are paid at least 25% over going market rates and above Fair Trade minimums. The communities cultivate cacao, rice, and a few other crops including mango and lime.

Quality is everything

We pay a premium price for a premium product. These long-term relationships offer us consistently high-quality cacao, and the farmers access to a stable and high value market so they can earn a living wage. The farmers are trained on farm productivity, ecological practices and cacao quality. The cacao is brought wet to a central fermentation & sun-drying location, ensuring professional standards in post-harvest processing.

Our Sourcing Reflects Four Values:

  • Ceremonial Quality
  • Social Responsibility
  • Ecological Awareness
  • Transparency
